An aspiration of Lama Lhanang Rinpoche for World Peace
The Gardens of Compassion are a series of individual gardens that grew out of the aspiration prayer of Lama Lhanang Rinpoche, a Yogi and Spiritual Teacher of Tibetan Buddhism. Each garden within the Gardens of Compassion is a place of beauty and peace, a living oasis where healing, inspiration, purification, prosperity and liberation may be found. These spring from the inner qualities of wisdom and compassion that dwell within each of us.
These gardens invite contemplation, meditation and the development of inner awareness. The Gardens of Compassion embody the most profound qualities of Love, Kindness and Compassion found in all the World’s great spiritual paths.
AN ASPIRATION THAT IS MANIFEST
Lama Lhanang Rinpoche expressed his vision of a Garden for world peace to his sangha members and many from around the world heard him and responded. That is how the story of the Garden of Compassion begins and how it came to the gently rolling hills of Valle de Gaudalupe, Baja California, Mexico. Rinpoche’s aspiration prayer received the blessings of His Holiness the Karmapa. For the benefit of all beings, The Gardens of Compassion received its name from His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Each garden is graced by the presence of a statue in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, personally selected by Rinpoche. Each statue will be enshrined within a small temple and will sit within a unique landscaped garden that evokes the energy represented by that statue.
Today, the aspiration for a garden of peace is being realized. Visitors will see one hundred and eight Italian Cypress trees forming a ring from which individual paths lead to each garden. First plantings, small trees and sculptures welcome the visitor to contemplate the setting where the statues and their temples will reside. A welcome respite from the storms of life, the Gardens of Compassion are a living sanctuary for all beings.
